Honeywell Instant Alert

The snow day notification from the Honeywell Instant Alert didn’t work correctly today.  It was activated at 5:30 a.m. but didn’t go out immediately.  We talked with the Honeywell help desk and sent out two more alerts.  Then the system finally worked and everyone received three instant alerts.

We are talking with Honeywell about this issue.  It should be solved before the next alert.  We may try an alert during the day soon, just to double check on the issue.

12:45 p.m.

We have found out that the Honeywell system was overwhelmed with the number of cancellations in the Northeast this morning.  We hit return three times when the alert did not go out.  Many communties hit return five or six times.  All of these went into the system to send out phone calls.  Honeywell is reviewing their bandwidth and asking all communities to send out only one alert in the early morning.  We waited until 5:30 a.m. but we may need to put our alert in a little earilier when there is a widespread storm.  We will continue to get updates from Honeywell on this issue.

Thank you for your patience.
