NECAP Results

The 2008 NECAP results have been published by the State.  Grades 3 to 8 and Grade 11 take these assessments in Reading and Math.  Grades 5, 8 11 take the assessment in writing.  They are high stake District assessments that are used to determine Adequate Yearly Progress under the No Child Left Behind Act.  Rochester has made significant progress in these assessments over the past several years.  We are a District in Need of Improvement (DINI) due to a math sub-group of special education students.  To meet AYP you have to meet the performance requirements in all sub-groups such as special education students, economically disadvantaged, or minority students.  We meet or exceed the requirements for the overal population of students.

The 2008 NECAP results show improvement in Reading from 06-07 to 07-08 in every grade except Grade 6.  We exceed the State average in reading in grades 3 to 5. Grade 6 has become a strong performer since 04-05.

Math Results show improvement over the last three years in all grades.  The Middle School in grades 7 and 8 exceeded last year’s performance by a large margin.  The High School made significant progress in their second year of testing.  In grades 3 and 5, we did not continue the great progress made last year, but we are still making steady progress from the 05-06 school year.
