Dear Parents,
We have been made aware of a case of meningitis in a student on the High School football team. He is in the hospital under treatment. We are awaiting notification from the physician and NH Department of Health as to the appropriate course of action, if necessary, for individuals that have been in contact with him. Viral and bacterial meningitis have different treatment modes and we wait for information from the NH Department of Health Department.
For more information, you can go to NHDHHS website: http://www.dhhs.nh.gov/dphs/cdcs/meningitis/index.htm
In the meantime, if your child has any symptoms of illness, fever, headache, neck stiffness, or any other concerns, contact you physician if you are concerned.
Please remind your children to continue to wash their hands and follow good health practices.
I will update this site, if we have further information or updates.
Thank you,
Mike Hopkins
Should school be cancelled until you find out more information
Are we able to know if this is middle school or high school grade level?
Was he at the football game?
We do not believe any school cancelation is needed. Thanks, Mike
