What is a “Year Round” School?
I’ll bet you are probably in a school that goes from September to June. You probably have lots of vacations, like Christmas or February or April vacation. At our school it’s a little different.
Our school has six “sessions” or six week periods. During those six weeks the teachers give us certain projects to work on, and different things to learn. After six weeks we get a one week vacation. This vacation is called an “intersession” because it is between sessions! That means we get a week “intersession” in October, then we get a week at Christmas (like you) and February (like you) and April (also ,like you).
If we don’t have any snow days, then we get two weeks off in June. When we do have snow days then we only get one week in June. We are in school all through July. Our summer vacation is the month of August. We begin school in September (just like you, probably).
We really like being in a year round school. We get to spend more time with our friends and we get to learn lots more. We get to do special projects because we have more time. We think a year round school is great. We highly recommend it for anyone who likes to learn lots and be with your friends and teachers.
DO get vacations, but we also go to school in July. We are a “year round school”.
