Elementary Instruction Committee videos

These are the Elementary Instruction Committee video presentations.  The first file includes Chamberlain, McClelland School, Maple Street Magnet School, William Allen, and School Street.  The second file includes East Rochester, Nancy Loud and Gonic School.  Below that is a file with additional  data slides.  On October 19 the Instruction Committee will be meeting at McClelland School at 6 p.m.  They will be involved in activities related to these slides.  If possible, viewing the slides before the presentation will help.

Chris Foley Day, October 6, 2017

Chris Foley Day, October 6, 2017

October 6, 2017 will be declared Chris Foley day by the Mayor of Rochester.  Chris recently died and this event was planned to honor him.  He worked at both the Rochester Middle School and William Allen School.

The plans are to have staff and students wear either the Foley Fanatics t-shirts recently purchased, or New England sports jerseys on Friday, October 6th.

On October 6th, there will be a short recognition immediately before the football game.  The proclamation will be read and other ways to recognize Chris’ impact on Rochester will be included.  The game is against Concord, where Chris attended school and began his teaching career.

The gate receipts from the game, plus a portion of 50/50 and any other donations from that night will go to the Foley Family.

Chromebook Purchases

I have attached a document that you can use to order a chromebook.  This is a good price from CDWG.  If you are a parent or student in the District, and want to bring your own device to and from school, you can purchase one of the devices.  Any chromebook would work, but these are a good bid price.

If you are ordering, you must setup an account, then it will allow you to enter a credit card, and delivery address.  If you are getting Chamberlain Street School and it asks for a PO number, you have not setup an account.

If you are a staff member and want to use payroll deductions to pay for the item, you will need to wait until the school year begins to place an order directly with the District.  A form will go out for that purpose.

June 16, 2017 Graduation

We have decided to move graduation inside to the Community Center for tonight June 16, 2017 at 6:30 p.m.  The forecast, which may be wrong, shows heavy rain showers from 5 to 8 p.m.  There is a chance these could include thunder and lighting.  I don’t believe it would be a good idea to have everyone outside in this type of weather.  The doors to the gym will open at 5:00 p.m.

Each graduate has been give seven tickets, since seating is restricted in the community center.  The weather should be cooler this evening, so it will not be as uncomfortable inside as it could be.  This will be the second inside event, since we moved outside eleven years ago.

I strongly support the ceremony being outside, and will continue to push the limits of weather.  The key issue is that all of the weather forecasts I have looked at, show heavy rain during the ceremony.

Thanks,

Mike
